CINCINNATI, OHIO – February 16, 2008 – OPW Fueling Components, the global leader in commercial and retail fueling equipment, has announced that its revolutionary EDGE™ Double-Wall Spill Container is now available with a factory-installed electronic sensor. This sensor enables continuous monitoring of the spill container's interstitial space and provides compliance with North Carolina spill-container regulations.
Unlike competitive units, the electronic sensor on the EDGE™ is placed in a conveniently located sensor-retrieval port, which makes access to the sensor quick and easy during routine testing or replacement. To test the integrity of the sensor, all that regulators and contractors have to do is remove the sensor-retrieval port, pull the sensor to grade, flip it over and check for an alarm. By comparison, to check the alarms on competitive units, water needs to be poured into the interstitial space until the sensor goes into alarm. After the sensor is checked, the water needs to be pumped out of the spill container and disposed of according to state or federal liquid-waste disposal laws, a process that is cumbersome, time-consuming and costly.
"From the beginning, the EDGE™ was designed with the real-world needs of the contractors that install and service these products in mind," said Aldo Sucaldito, Product Manager for OPW Fueling Components. "The ease by which the new electronic sensor is tested is yet another way that the EDGE™ meets those needs and continues to separate itself from the competition."
Upon its introduction in 2008, laboratory tests proved that the EDGE™ Double-Wall Spill Container, when compared feature-to-feature to competitive units, offered superior performance and reliability, as well as time and labor savings, making it the only spill container in its class.
