OPW has been innovating in above ground and below ground fueling equipment for over 125 years, always striving to make tweaks and improvements that have major impact. At the 2019 Petroleum Equipment Institute Convention in Atlanta, OPW’s Retail Fueling business will be highlighting a powerful new component for its Loop System and a new addition to the 14 Series family of nozzles.

Regular, or low-octane, gasoline does not go into a Formula 1 race car. Diesel shouldn’t go into your gasoline-powered sedan. When pulling into a fueling station, customers are depending on the diligence of the station to keep incompatible fuels from getting into their tanks. Though it’s simple for customers to hit a button and dispense the correct fuel, for a fuel delivery driver, there are tens of thousands of chances to make a loading or unloading error that results in customers driving off with compromised tanks.

Overfill, a condition in tank trailers that are loaded without, in some instances, having fully dispensed previous product, is a flammable, environmentally-damaging threat to safety. Fortunately, there are technological solutions to stop overfill, but slow adoption is keeping the fuel supply chain at risk.

In a move that will provide extra flexibility for fuel retailers, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final ruling to give gasoline blended with up to 15% ethanol (E15) a year-round 1 psi Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) waiver during the summer. Previously, retailers in some states could not sell E15 from June 1 to September 15.
