At the 2019 Petroleum Equipment Institute Convention in Atlanta, OPW’s Retail Fueling business will be highlighting a powerful new component for its Loop System and a new addition to the 14 Series family of nozzles.

Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP), or fiberglass, sumps are a relatively new type of equipment in the retail fueling scene. These sumps are being specified more frequently, and for good reason. They offer functionality and fuel compatibility benefits over polyethylene (PE) pumps.

The true innovation in the loop fuel-delivery system – which is virtually failsafe – is the use of a combination of revolutionary new types of piping connections, dispenser-sump designs, minimized piping joints and streamlined in-field fabrication requirements. The slew of benefits provided by these systems ultimately creates a better installation and service experience for fuel retailers.

In a move that will provide extra flexibility for fuel retailers, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final ruling to give gasoline blended with up to 15% ethanol (E15) a year-round 1 psi Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) waiver during the summer. Previously, retailers in some states could not sell E15 from June 1 to September 15.

Diesel has an unflattering reputation as a stain on the fueling customer experience. A grimy nozzle stained by excess fuel can turn diesel and gasoline customers away. What can retailers do to keep their reputations clean?

Clean sites are a competitive advantage, and OPW research shows that clean nozzles are more important to customers than the lowest price. Not having to worry about diesel and gasoline covering hands, clothes or the ground provides peace of mind for people and the environment, and it is one of the ways that OPW's 14 Series serves up a cleaner, greener fueling experience.
