Midland recognized for its efforts within TRANSCAER
SKOKIE, ILLINOIS - April 23, 2015 - Midland Manufacturing, part of OPW, is proud to announce it was honored at the 2015 Chlorine Institute Annual Meeting & Technology Symposium. Midland was recognized for its ongoing support of the Chlorine Institute's TRANSCAER Program. TRANSCAER (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response) is a voluntary national outreach effort to help communities prepare for and respond to a possible hazardous materials transportation incident.
Members of TRANSCAER are heavily invested in protecting people and the
environment. By providing hands-on education, training materials, emergency planning assistance, and an avenue of sharing best practices, TRANSCAER gives first-responders and community leaders the opportunity to understand the intricacies and implications of hazmat response.
In 2014, approximately 55,000 people took part in face-to-face training sessions with TRANSCAER across the United States and Canada. Midland Manufacturing aided in many of these sessions by providing in- and out-of-classroom instruction, as well as, the donation of its industry-leading
Emergency Response Kits (ERK). These kits come with high quality, durable and heavy-duty tools, and special capping equipment to quickly and safely cap leaking fittings on the top of pressurized railcars.
Steve Herbst, Product Manager for Midland, accepted the award on Midland's behalf. "Midland Manufacturing wants to make rail transportation and the movement of commodities via rail as safe as possible," said Herbst. "It's a never-ending journey, but every step increases the safety of our communities and environment."
